IR Meeting Minutes Draft
We recently received a draft of the minutes taken at the meeting between Medicaid representatives, Co-Ad, and a few members of the Idaho Association Developmental Disability Agencies regarding the Health and Welfare Information Release (2008-12). Read them carefully...they appear to diminish your parental rights, seemingly interpret IDAPA regulations (which is not allowable by the state of Idaho), and may substantially decrease the medically necessary services your child receives during the school day during school hours throughout the school year. Again, please take a moment to read them thoroughly, even if your child is not in a private or home school setting.
We will provide the final version of the minutes once they are distributed.
Expect an invitation to a meeting of affected parents, other concerned citizens, other service providers (including physicians, social workers, physical therapists, and psychologists), attorneys, and other Developmental Disability Agency representatives for a meeting in mid to late July.
*Parents* Below is a link to a parent survey that is a very important part of a research study being done through the Center on Disability and Human Development at the University of Idaho. They really need to hear from parents about their own experience and their children’s experience with inclusive education in Idaho schools. This anonymous and confidential online survey is easy and fairly short so please take a few minutes to give them your input. With parent information they will be able create a more balanced report that they will use to plan for positive systems change in Idaho.
*Notice* New regulations may limit your rights if you have school-aged children. This may have a direct impact on your child's service for the next school year. Please read these documents from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to see if you will be affected.
